Prototype Production Of An Adaptive Headlight System For Motorcycles

The conventional motorcycle headlights have fixed orientations. When a motorcycle enters a curved road, the driver leans the bike towards the ground on center of curvature side. The combination of the curvedness and the lean angle causes the fixed headlights illuminate the wrong portions of the road. An adaptive headlight system compensates for this deviation by using/sensing the lean angle. In previous semester, a model that calculates the illuminated area of the road corresponding to motorcycle orientation was developed and implemented in both MATLAB and SOLIDWORKS. Depending on this study, the best angular position configirations, to illuminate the road effectively, of the headlight were determined. In this project, a prototype of the adaptive headlight prototype is to be built, analyzed, and tested.
