Performance Evaluation and Troubleshooting of an Air-handling Unit
Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems are used for making the living environment thermally comfortable. In this project, performance evaluation and troubleshooting of an HVAC system will be performed. HVAC unit exists in Yeditepe University Mechanical Engineering Department Thermodynamics Lab. Initial target is to assess both boiler and chiller units; then, identify hot and cold water piping systems to determine any problem regarding with the unit. Lastly, perform troubleshooting of the unit. It is also expected to have improvement of the system efficiency (optimize the system) via tuning the system parameters.
- Have knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer and basic fluid mechanics
- Have a basic knowledge and understanding of HVAC units
- Have experimental skills
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Working knowledge of Matlab or Excel for data analysis.
- Should be able to work in the lab.
