Improvement and Construction of a Four-Legged Locomotion Mechanism

A existing 4-legged locomotion mechanism is to be improved and constructed. The mechanism will mimic the walking of such four-legged animals such as horses and related species. Mechanically coupled and electronically coupled alternatives will be investigated.

Work Description:

  • Improving and finalizing the 3D models for production
  • Manufacturing the parts using machine shop facilities as well as 3D printing machines
  • Develop a basic control algorithm
  • Implementation in MATLAB and then in Arduino
  • Conducting experiments
  • Testing in wind tunnel
  • Writing a report

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • CAD, 3D scanning and printing
  • Mechanical construction
  • Experimental setups
  • MATLAB/Arduino
  • Academic research and report writing skills
