Design of A Fan with Morphing Blade with The Help of SMA Wire

In this project student is asked to design a fan with Morphing Blade with the help of SMA wire. The shape memory effect (SME) is one of the most recognizable behavior of shape memory alloys (SMAs). These materials, after being subjected to deformation in their martensitic phase are capable of recovering their original shape with the application of heat. The phenomenon is called thermally induced martensitic transformation. Student is asked to use this recovery phenomenon and design a morphing fan blade that can be used to reduce or eliminate the need for active control systems, is a highly attractive solution in blade technology.

Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Ability to perform experimental study
- This project requires experimental work, therefore students should consider the amount of weekly load that he/she have before considering to take this project.
- Finite element software knowledge is required
